Headset status

The first thing to check is whether the headset is ON. As well, turn the volume up to make sure that it wasn’t turned down. A minimum level that this should be set to is 20%.

This is a very basic troubleshooting step and it’s likely you’ve already checked this. However, a couple of important things to note:

  • The device auto shuts off after 30 minutes of inactivity
  • It’s also possible that the battery is drained. To check this let’s go to the next step.

Check the battery level

Conduct a basic check of battery status. Here are the steps:

If the device is powered OFF, turn it ON by Pressing the Power button for 1.5 seconds.

G35 Power ON

If the device doesn’t power ON, charge it using the USB cable

With the headset powered ON, press the power button.

If the LED is green, the battery is fine (it has between 31% and 100% of charge left in it)

G435 Flashing Red

If the LED is either RED or flashing RED, you will need to charge the battery.

Mic not working Issue

Press the mute button to see if your microphone is muted. This should enable audio output.

In Windows:

  • Click on the volume icon and then click Volume Mixer
  • Make sure the slider in the volume mixer for all apps is set to 100.

Check the Lightspeed Connection

Ensure that your Logitech G435 is connected to your PC through Light speed, not Bluetooth. Note that this headset supports both wireless technologies so it’s important to select Lightspeed.

We recommend these steps to connect:

  • First, turn off your headset by pressing the power button for 3 seconds
  • Now insert the Lightspeed USB into the port of your PC or the device you are trying to connect.
  • Then press the headset’s power button for 1.5 seconds to turn it on.
  • Again press the power button for 1.5 seconds at least or until you see a solid cyan light. Now your headset is in lightspeed mode.
  • If you see a Blue light for 5 seconds, this means that it’s connected via Bluetooth. In this case press the Mute button for 3 seconds to switch to Lightspeed mode.
  • You will know that it’s in Lightspeed mode if the LED lights cyan for 5 seconds.

Switch USB port

Lightspeed relies on the receiver dongle. It has to be plugged in properly and the USB port has to be functional.

Lightspeed USB Dongle

You can either switch the dongle to another port. Alternatively you can also try plugging another USB device into the port you were using.

Another test is to try the head set with other computers.

Update Windows and Drivers

Sometimes a Windows update will cause issues with audio device drivers. It’s important to update the drivers for the headset to make sure that you’re at the most recent version. This can be done by following the steps below:

  • Go to device manager
  • Audio video and game controllers > Right Click on G435
  • Click Properties > Drivers > Delete device
  • Reboot your PC

It should automatically download the correct drivers. The headset should work now.

Remove sources of Interference

A common problem that users experience is an intermittent loss of connectivity. The most common reason for this is Radio interference. What does this mean?

Radio Frequency (RF) interference results when wireless devices such as Wi-Fi routers, Microwave ovens and other 2.4 GHz devices are operating in the vicinity of one another.

RF Interference
RF Interference

Radio waves are invisible. As a result you will not be able to see this interference. The effects however are often obvious. Devices will disconnect when you least expect them to. You might also experience periodic dropouts in the audio or stutter.

One way to eliminate this issue is to move 802.11 routers and other such devices away from the headset.

The other technique is to use the USB cable to move the Lightspeed receiver closer to the headset. A line-of-sight connection improves the received signal strength and reduces the impact of RF interference.

Ideally we suggest both of the above for maximum wireless link reliability.

Check the G Hub Software

Sometimes the headset doesn’t connect to the device even if the cyan light indicates the Light speed connectivity. The reason is that, unlike most other Logitech devices, G435 does not need G Hub software to operate.

If you have G Hub installed on your PC, the headset might not connect. Please follow the steps below for successful connectivity.

  • Uninstall the G Hub software
  • Remove the dongle
  • Reboot your PC
  • Re-plug the dongle and ensure the headset is in lightspeed mode
  • Follow the connection steps above

In some situations, when G-Hub is uninstalled, G435 starts working again.

If the problem persists after uninstalling the software, then you can reinstall G Hub if required for other Logitech peripherals. Then reboot your PC. In many situations this fixes the problem.

Reconnect Lightspeed

Another solution that has worked for many is to reconnect Logitech G435 headset to the USB dongle. To do the procedure, please follow the steps below:

  • Press the mute button on the left cup for at least 3 seconds
  • Logitech G435 connection will switch to Bluetooth, and the LED will flash blue for 5 seconds
  • Now press the mute button for 3 seconds again
  • Logitech G435 will switch back to a lightspeed connection, and the LED will flash cyan for 5 seconds.

Hard Reset

If the firmware update failed or none of the above steps resolved your issue, we recommend performing a hard reset. This will take the device back to factory settings. The reset button can be found under the left Earpad and you will need to use a SIM ejector tool for this.

Reset the G435

Insert the tool for two seconds until the green light blinks. Now try connecting again and it should work.

Check the Serial Number

A serial number can be found under the left Earpad. You will need to remove the left earcup to read that number. Match this serial number with the one on the box the Logitech G435 came in. If there is a difference in these numbers, your product does in fact have an issue.

You can ask for the replacement by opening a ticket through the Logitech support forum.

Hearing yourself with G435

Some users have reported a problem where they are hearing everything they say. This is actually a feature called “Sidetone” that’s used to help you adjust your speaking volume to a proper level. To disable this, double press the Mute button. If successful, the LED will flash once in orange. This should return your device to Normal operation.
